HomeAbout Us

Chicagoland Club 50 — Ski & Sports was created especially to satisfy the preferences and lifestyles of adults over 50. We’ve developed our own friendly style of ski trips and year-round activities*.

Our 100+ members live in both Chicago and the suburbs. Instead of meeting in the same location each month, we gather at different Chicago area restaurants for dinner and good conversation – guests included.

If you’ve no one to ski or bike or travel with, you’re sure to enjoy Club 50’s welcoming style. The membership is an interesting mix of singles and couples, all busy staying active, making new friends and sharing activities.

*Due to continuing issues with COVID-19 and variants, some of the events and activities of Chicagoland Club 50 may be cancelled or postponed.  Check the calendar to see what's currently going on with Club 50.

Western Ski Trips

Club 50 travels to American and Canadian resorts such as Snowmass, Big Sky, Park City and Banff. Whether you cruise greens and blues or explore expert terrain, there will be a place for you. The group likes to get an early start and at day’s end the group relaxes together at its nightly pre-dinner wine and cheese gatherings.

We choose destinations that offer skiing for a wide range of abilities and select lodgings that are close to the slopes.  For 2025, join us at Snowmass CO and Jackson Hole, WY.   See more information under Trips.

Midwest Ski Trips

For 2024 – 2025, the club is planning a Midwest trip to Snow River MI (formerly Indianhead and Black Jack).  This 3 to 4 day trip is still in the planning stages although the tentative dates are during the week of March 9, 2025

Flash Ski Trips

Good snow conditions in Wisconsin allow for last minute, day-long ski excursions. For members, contact Club50Flash@yahoo.com to get on our flash email list.  For non-members, contact the same e-mail address and advise that you're a non-member and would like information on up-coming Flash Trips to spend a day skiing with us.

Dinner Meetings

At various Sundays during the year, Club 50 gathers for dinner and conversation. Members plan and host dinners at their favorite restaurants around the Chicagoland area. Guests are welcome to attend.

St. James Hike - Old Town Pour House
Hiking and Biking

The Club also sponsors both scheduled hikes and bike rides as well as Flash hikes and Flash bike rides.  A FLASH event is a last minute,spur-of-the-moment, do-it-yourself outing.

Unlike Club 50 SCHEDULED events, where all members get an e-mail with details well in advance of the event, A FLASH event is spontaneous.  Anyone can pick a day, time and location for a FLASH event and notify the members on the appropriate list who expressed interest in being notified.  If you want to be on this list, send an e-mail to Club50Flash@yahoo.com.
